Jill Mortensen aka Morty
I am a high school educator with over 20 years of experience dedicated to student leadership, campus culture, and whole-child development. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with students in leadership, activities, and independent study, helping them grow not only as students but as confident, compassionate individuals.
My work centers on teaching leadership through service, gratitude, and community connection. I believe schools thrive when students feel seen, valued, and empowered to make a positive impact. Whether planning campus events, mentoring student leaders, or guiding reflection and collaboration, my goal is to help students develop skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
In recent years, I have integrated mindfulness into my work with students and staff. These practices support emotional regulation, resilience, and intentional decision-making—skills that are essential in today’s fast-paced academic and social environments. I strive to create spaces where students can slow down, reflect, and reconnect with themselves while still being challenged to grow.
I am deeply committed to building inclusive, student-centered programs that honor creativity, service, and personal growth. Supporting students in finding their voice, purpose, and sense of belonging remains the most meaningful part of my work in education.
