Hello! I’m excited to be part of the Ripon High School Agriculture Department. I grew up in the Modesto area and developed a strong passion for agricultural education early on. I attended California State University, Fresno (Go Dogs!) where I earned my degree in Agricultural Education.
During my time at Fresno State, I completed my student teaching at both Atwater High School and Ripon High School, where I discovered my love for working with students and helping them grow as leaders in agriculture. This year marks my first year as a full-time agriculture teacher here at Ripon High, and I’m thrilled to continue building connections with students, supporting our FFA chapter, and contributing to our school’s outstanding ag program.
COURSES TAUGHT
Ag Biology
A one-year laboratory science course designed for college-bound students with career interests in agriculture. Using agriculture as the learning vehicle, this course emphasizes principles, central concepts, and inter-relationships among living organisms. The course is centered around an extensive laboratory component to connect the core concepts of life science with agricultural applications. The course also covers earth science, physical science principles, and other curricular areas, including written and oral reporting skills.
Intro Food & Ag
Intro to Food and Agriculture is an introductory exploration of Agriculture, food and the modern food system with a focus on sustainability and the environment. The course takes advantage of the year-round growing season in the central valley of California to engage students in inquiry, observation, and reflection related to the fundamentals of agriculture and our food system. Using our industrial kitchens, on-site outdoor Lab Facility, and our off-site school farm, students will combine academic exploration and hands-on applications. In addition, students will grapple with the critical question of how we balance feeding an ever-growing global population while simultaneously protecting the earth’s natural resources that we all rely on such as air and clean water.
