U.S. History 5th Period-2025-2026 Assignments

FLASH RESEARCH: Choose ONE invention from the 1920's.
Create a minimum of THREE slides:
Slide 1 includes your name, the name of the invention, and all your sources
Slide 2 includes information about the invention.
Slide 3 includes illustrations of the invention - be sure all images are from the 1920's.

FLASH RESEARCH: WORLD WAR I

1. Choose ONE of the following topics for your flash research and slideshow:
    a) 369th Infantry Regiment
    b) Army Nurses' Corps
    c) "Hello Girls"
    d) Battle of Belleau Wood
    e) The Lost Battalion
    f) American Expeditionary Forces (AEF)

2. Research your topic and create a slideshow using GOOGLE CLASSROOM ONLY! No Canva please
    Your slideshow must include a MINIMUM of the following slides:
   a) Title slide with your topic and your name
   b) At least one slide explaining what or who your topic was in connection to WWI
   c) At least one slide explaining why your topic was significant to the war effort
   d) At least one slide with illustrations - and captions explaining the illustrations -of the topic
   e) A slide that concludes your slideshow with more than just "The End" or "Thank you" on it.

FLASH RESEARCH: PROGRESSIVE PRESIDENTS

1. Choose ONE of the progressive presidents (T. Roosevelt, W. Taft, or W. Wilson)
2. Choose 2-3 progressive focuses of your selected president
3. Create a slideshow that includes the following:
    a) Title slide - your name and the name of the president you chose
    b) One or more slides for each focus - it will include the focus, what the president accomplished in that area, and an 
         illustration that goes with the information
    c) Conclusion slide - includes your thoughts regarding the president's progressivism.

Flash Research: American Imperialism in the Pacific: 
Create a slide show for your topic that includes the following:
a) title slide
b) brief information about your topic
c) American interest in acquiring your place and how it happens
d) illustrations
e) source page

Closing the West Project:  Students will choose ONE of the presentation options for the project; all presentations include the "Structure" part as well.
Tribes are assigned to two people per class - projects will be completed in class Thursday and Friday, November 20 and 21 and will be submitted to google classroom by the deadline on November 21.

If you are absent, please be sure to submit the project within 3 days of the deadline and make note in the submission that you were absent so you are not marked "late".

Each group will create a slideshow for one of the major conflicts / massacres of the American Indian genocide in the 1800's.
Please submit the slides in google classroom, and include as a MINIMUM:
1. Title slide - name of conflict or massacre and names of members of the group
2. 1-2 slides with information of  the conflict or massacre
3. 1-2 slides with photos / illustrations
4. Source slide

Individually or with ONE partner, create a slide show in which you address the following:
1. What happened Provide an overview of the event, people, and dates.
2. How did the event impact the start of the Civil War? Explain.
3. Why is the event historically significant to the Civil War and beyond?

Colonial Regions Activity:
groups will submit slideshows to google classroom
For each region, include information for the following:
1. economy
2. politics
3. social structure
4. religious influence
5. support for independence?  Why or why not?

Flash Search: People of Colonial America

Groups are assigned a real person from Colonial America. They will work together to create a slide show based on quick, focused research of that person in class. Each slideshow will include 5 slides:
1. title/names of students in group
2. biographical information of the person researched
3. reasons the person came to America, with explanation
4. photos
5. sources

ONE student will submit into google classroom on behalf of the group. We will take notes on these tomorrow.
